The presentation "Introduction to Birding in the Lehigh Valley," is a brief overview of the backyard and local birding opportunities that residents and visitors to the Lehigh Valley have on their doorstep. The Lehigh Valley has 350 species of birds breeding, overwintering or migrating through every year. Residents can step outside and view dozens of species locally in any season. With a quick drive, birders can visit a range of habitats and expect to see varieties of woodland songbirds, shorebirds, water fowl, raptors, and ground dwelling birds on any day. This is an overview of the common and less common species within the Lehigh Valley and some of the programs and resources available to birders. Marilyn Guidry is a volunteer with the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society and a member of the Education Committee since 2014.
